Museum London is taking an active role in creating historical and artistic experiences for Indigenous audiences and for those that want to learn more about Indigenous culture. Read on below to see how we're doing this through the Indigenous Legacies Project, exhibitions, community outreach, and programming.

Indigenous Legacies Project

The Indigenous Legacies Project is a two-year community mobilization project to engage London and area Indigenous community leaders, organizations, and individuals as co-creators of community outreach and cultural activities, while providing the opportunity to present a more inclusive history of London that includes the First Nations story.

For sustainability, the project will leave a legacy of strengthened relationships for planning and funding support for special Indigenous and First Nations events, programs and exhibitions at the Museum as well as in the broader community.

Along with our community partners, Atlohsa Family Healing Services and the NAmerind Friendship Centre, Museum London also gratefully acknowledges the Smart & Caring Community Fund; Beryl Ivey Endowment for the Arts; and the Alfred Edward Hathaway Petrie Memorial Fund, all within the London Community Foundation.

The graphic you see above was created by Tsista Kennedy for the Project. Tsista Kennedy is a seventeen year old, self-taught indigenous artist from Beausoleil First Nation, and Oneida Nation of the Thames.
